ALZ Funding to Increase; But Not in Microbial Detection Research

In response to the recently proposed spending bill for 2018, which calls to increase annual funding by $3 billion ($37 billion total) to the National Institutes of Health, ALZ Germ Quest CEO Dr. Leslie Norins comments, “If the just-released Congressional budget for science passes, NIH will receive a record amount to spend on Alzheimer’s research—$1.8 billion—in 2018. But, sadly, virtually none of that will be prioritized for determining if microbes play a role as triggers of the disease, and identifying the main ones participating.”
